My fellow blog buddies Carrie Butler, Lisa Regan, and Melodie Wright are hosting a bloghop this week, where we get to make our characters come to life by sharing pictures of what we think they look like.
If Hollywood ever came a-knockin’ (hey, one can dream!), here’s who I’d love to see play the main roles:
Lucy Liu as Dr. Sheila Tao
Cam Gigandet as Ethan Wolfe
Chris Noth as Morris Gardener
Morgan Freeman as Jerry Isaac
Ming Na as Dr. Marianne Chang
Mila Kunis as Abby Maddox
If you’ve read CREEP, what do you think of my picks? Did you picture the characters differently?
Who would you cast for your book?
* * *
Mila Kunis is not bad ass enough to be Abby I think. Uma Thurman or Kate Beckinsale maybe. Great post!
Lucy Lui as Sheila, hmm. Yeah, I can imagine that. Cam Gigandet as Ethan, definitely! He's perfect! But I can't picture Chris Noth as Morris. I pictured Morris as a much bigger guy. Morgan Freeman as Isaac is another perfect choice, though Ming Na seems a tad young for his Annie/Marianne. Your best pick by far is Mila Kunis for Abbey. She's built for that role.
Whoa! I pictured Lucy Lui as Sheila the entire time. Spot on, spot on! *grins* I'm so digging this cast, Jennifer. In my mind, it's perfect. 😀
Thank you for participating!
My book, a middle grade novel, stars Chinese, Malay, and South Indian kids and I don't know of actors who fit the bill. Googling "young asian girl actors" gave me results that are, um, totally inappropriate.
Yat-Yee, that's hilarious! HAHAHA
Okay, so I put Morris on a Hollywood diet by picking Chris Noth. I used to picture John Goodman, actually, while I was writing the book.
Funny, I'm the opposite of GYSC. I think Mila Kunis would be PERFECT as Abby. Although I did have a completely different looking woman in mind for her when I was reading the book. Someone more in line with a younger Denise Richards, I think.
But since Mila is one of my hugest celeb crushes, I would definitely go with her. I've seen her in roles that were close to Abby. Such as in The Black Swan.
I can't see Lucy Liu as Sheila, though. Although it would be a great role for her as an actress since she doesn't usually play the vulnerable victim.
I agree with Nancy about Morris. I picture someone bigger. Someone like a Sam Elliott, perhaps — minus 20 years or so. And plus 25 to 40 pounds. 🙂
But I really like your choices anyway, Jen. Especially Morgan Freeman. Wow!
Lucy Liu as Sheila would so rock. I love her, she'd be perfect!!! Chris Noth as Morris–interesting. I picture Morris as larger and less attractive, LOL but Noth definitely has a Morris like air about him. Kunis as Abby–also very interesting. I love seeing who you chose! So cool.
Your picks are amazing!! Especially the main character, that I adored… and my oh my are their hotties here for men!
LOL, how did I guess you'd be thinking of the big time Jennifer? Great casting!
I'm not a fan of Chris Noth but the rest are spot on! : )
Hmmm, I always imagined Morris as a Vincent D'onofrio type….
So much fun!!! Hmmmm… the only one that surprised me was Chris Noth. I picture Morris as less handsome, heavier and more friendly. Chris always seems to play jerks. I can totally see Mila Kunis though… I agree with David that her role in Black Swan definitely proves she has the dark side for a role like this.
I don't usually like seeing actors in roles from a book I've liked, but yeah, I can see these people starring in your book. =o)
They're great artists. Nice picks! :)) They'd perform just perfectly in your story 🙂
What a cool post. 🙂 I love your pics, they're great. 😀
As you know, Jennifer, I've just finished your extremely well written and highly intriguing debut novel. I'm not good at visualizing actors in book characters because I usually don't see faces the same way casting agents do.
That being said, you've done a fine job here. I do agree with some of the others re Chris Noth, and I'm not sure about who I'd want to see play Ethan – that would be a tough one for me. (Glad it's not my day job!)
Cheers, Jenny
PEARSON REPORT
Nobody likes Mr. Big for Morris? What if he gained 40 pounds? Would that help? 🙂
That's a good looking crew you got there, Jennifer!
I think your pics are spot on. In my novel, I would cast Meryl Streep and Benicio del Toro.
This is a great looking bunch of actors. Thanks for sharing!
Holy cow, that's perfect casting! Having read your book cover to cover (via Gizmo), I can agree with your choices wholeheartedly.
I adore Lucy Liu 🙂 Great cast!

I definitely can see who you picked playing the roles, especially Cam Gigandet as Ethan Wolfe. 🙂
HOLY CRAP, it's perfect! I already had Lucy Liu as Sheila (who else?)but not the others.
They are all spot on, even Mila Kunis (who I LOVE) because she can look innocent. Everyone needs to remember that Abby is skilled at hiding what a monster she is. Mila could rock that.lol They had better let you do the casting!
Ooh, I like!
I was picturing someone completely different as Morris, but now I can't remember who.
Hilarious! Me likes :o)
I like your choices! If my book ever gets publisehd and turned into a movie, I would cast Matthew McNaughey (totally butchered his name) as my leading man, George Clooney as the judge, and Marissa Tomei (again with the butchering)as the main character. My book is a legal thriller/romance story. So, maybe, just maybe, one day soon! 🙂
That cast is AWESOME! Great picks!
Great casting, especially Morgan Freeman.
Wow, I have nothing to object. They are *almost* as I pictured!
Wouldn't it be awesome if they made a movie of CREEP??
<3
Well, since I've already been thinking how CREEP should be a movie, this post is spot on in my opinion. 🙂
Herro!!!
Noooooooooooo I haven't read creep!! I'm from malaysia (is why) is it available online?
I think Lucy Lui and Cam Gigandet are perfect for the roles of Sheila and Ethan. Fun post, Jennifer! 🙂
This is a great cast. I got particularly excited over Morgan Freeman.
I love the choices. Except Morgan Freeman will always be Alex Cross to me. And isn't that the guy who played Mr. Big in Sex in the City. Lucy Liu is a total badass. Will have to read the book now. 🙂
Good choices. I always wonder what the likelihood is that a studio who picks up our stuff would actually get us the actors we think would work best. No matter what, if you get Freeman, you're gonna do well.
I'm thinking someone like Brian Dennehy for Morris…but younger, of course.
Your book sounds interesting.
I like your cast. I'm a big fan of Lucy Liu and Morgan Freeman. Chris Noth is good too.
Lui and Gigandet are perfect for the leads. I love the Kunis choice as well.
What about Jon Favreau for Morris? He has that former football player look.
