I watched Oprah’s last show yesterday, and her words really resonated with me:
Nobody but you is responsible for your life. It doesn’t matter what your mama did; it doesn’t matter what your daddy didn’t do. You are responsible for your life. You are responsible for the energy that you create for yourself, and you’re responsible for the energy that you bring to others.
Yes. Yes. Yes.
Happy Memorial Day weekend!
I didn't get a chance to watch Oprah's last show, but those words are very true.
Happy Memorial Day weekend to you too!
Yesterday's Oprah show was my first! lol
It's funny you chose that quote from Oprah. I just posted something similar. It was a lesson I had only recently learned. It seems every major decision I've made in my life has been the wrong one. My fault, no one else's. When things go right, and they will, it'll be my doing as well.
PS. I love the Chuck Norris tweet.
Oprah's just always been my hero π
Did you love her dress?? I loved her dress. She's such an icon. I wonder what I'll do now at 4:00.
Have a great weekend!!
I haven't watched Oprah in years, because of my crazy schedule, but I'm going to miss her. She's an amazing woman, and I absolutely love that quote.
Happy Memorial Day to you, too! (Is it really almost June already??)
I'm ready to believe she's now too busy to run the show, BUT I will also tell you that. Oprah will pull it from the drawer if she encounters any difficulty with O. channel. We haven't seen the last of her show.
I'll tell a secret…I've loved her and thought she was totally awesome since around the same time I saw her in The Color Purple. It's been a long time.
But I can still make fun of her owning OWN.
I actually caught the tail end of the show. My wife love's her! I have to admit, I liked her show too. Didn't watch it all that often, but the few times I have I knew I was watching class defined.
@Anne: I loved her dress. The pink was perfect.
@Charlie & David: It takes a manly man to admit he's watched Oprah! Love it!
Awesome! Though I hope this departure will leave her with more time to devote to acting. She's amazing!
A toast to Oprah and personal responsibility!
Very nice.
Never seen a show, great words for the end though, should those not be self evident?
Fantastic quote. (=
Amen, sista! I love love love that quote and wish everyone could take the time to really explore it. π
So true! I hope to apply this to my own life. π
Love Oprah! I always wanted to get interviewed on her show for my bestselling books. I guess she'll just have to come out of retirement for me π
She is one woman who inspires all. Whether you love her or hate her she's done it all. She's dominated the television and it was sad to see her go.
It was such a perfect quote to go out with. It seems so empty without her now!!
This definitely resonates with me! My mom wouldn't watch the show because she was so sad so I missed it as well. But what she said is so true! It's going to be so strange without her. π

My DVR didn't record Oprah's last show. It made me sad.
I'm sure I can find it online, though.
I haven't watched her show since the 1980s. Still it's a good quote. We do need to take personal responsibility for our actions.
Love the quote and I have been an Oprah fan for years but I must say I was disappointed in the last show. I did like this other quote she said "You are responsible for your life. Donβt wait for someone to fix you or save you or complete you. No one completes you."
I've still got this on the DVR to watch. I can hardly wait. Happy Memorial Day weekend.
Oooh, that is a good quote. Hope you're having a great weekend!
Great quote. I really admire her. I saw her once when I was a kid in Baltimore, at the pool. Hard to believe it's the same lady!
This quote gave me cold chills! I didn't get to watch, but, like her or not she has done AMAZING things! Such a leader for women…anyone for that matter.
Gotta love words of wisdom from Oprah. π I was on vacation when her last episode aired. It's on my DVR and I still need to watch it. It's going to be sad!
