Shhh. Come closer.
I don’t want to jinx myself, but…
I’m very, very close to the end of my first draft.
It’s wrapping up a lot faster than I thought, and thank God for that. Though I can’t get too excited since I’m going to have to go back through the book and fill in a bunch of plot holes. But the good news is I’m about a week away from having a beginning, middle and end of a Whole New Book. A sudden plot turn (which came in the form of a genuine Aha! moment earlier this week) tied a lot of things up, and I’m so grateful for that rare bit of inspiration that seemed to fall from the sky at just the right time. I blogged about this yesterday on Killer Chicks, and I can definitely say that this book has been 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration.
Mind you, sudden inspiration comes with a lot of baggage, which means to sell this new plot twist (and avoid the dreaded deux ex machina), I’m going to have start weaving it in earlier. And that’s a lot of work.
I cannot tell you how relieved I am. Nothing quite matches the panic I feel the entire time I’m writing a first draft. It’s like I’m racing against myself, and trust me, I lose more than I win.
Anyway, enough about me. Guess who Joann is interviewing at Killer Chicks today?
Congrats on being so close to done! I love typing The End…even if (or maybe especially because) it means the fun is just beginning. 🙂
Thanks Shallee! I actually enjoy revisions so I can't wait to get to that stage.
Yay on being so close to the finish line!!! Good luck!! I love the feeling of finishing! I'm still learning about the revisions stage so maybe you'll have something to teach me when you move to that stage!!
The interview was AMAZING! Thanks for showing me the rejectionist!
Don't lose your steam now! Nose down, fingers up, type type type!
Wooooo hoooooo! Congrats…almost (don't want to jinx it). It's always so nice when the essential THREE come together (beginning, middle, end). Now, race to the finish line!
Let's hear it for inspiration!
Congrats! That's awesome! Hope you get to share more on it whenever you can.
Finally. After one year of writing. And revising. Tonight I typed the end. And then I sent out seven queries. Loved the interview with the Le R, thanks!
*whispering* Congrats. 🙂
I love that "genuine Aha! moment" — one of the best things about being a pantser. Kind of addictive, actually… Anyhow, muchos congrats!
Thanks everyone! I'm shooting to finish this baby on Tuesday. Yikes. Did I just write that down? Now I've done it.
Samantha, congrats on typing The End. That's HUGE!
Appreciate the support, guys.
Congratulations on being so close to the big finish!
