Welcome to the new website! And all kinds of news!

It’s been a journey, I tell you. From Blogger to Wix to WordPress to SquareSpace to (finally!) a professionally designed and maintained website (YES I PAY PROFESSIONALS NOW TO HELP ME). Funny how I could have done this years ago, but sometimes it takes a while before you allow yourself to feel… worthy. Ten years ago, I used to live in big house with three spare bedrooms, and yet I wrote CREEP in a nook in the hallway, because I didn’t feel worthy of taking up a whole room just for myself and my writing. It wasn’t until I sold the book and started writing the next one that I gave myself permission to have a room of my own to write in, with a door I could close.

I’ve come a long way since then. I have a tiny house now with only one spare room, and this time, I didn’t think twice about making it my writing space. But it took me a while to feel okay about it, you know?

Some stuff I wrote.

I have so much to tell you. SO MUCH. Let me explain. No, there is too much. Let me sum up:

We sold the movie rights to JAR OF HEARTS.

Foreign rights sales so far have gone to Corvus Books (Atlantic Books) in the UK, Penguin Verlag in Germany, Baronet in Czech Republic, and Penguen Kitap Kaset Ltd. in Turkey.

The large print rights have been sold to Thorndike.

I got my first starred review ever, from Library Journal.

I got a great review from Publishers Weekly.

I did my first signing for JAR OF HEARTS at the Ontario Library Association’s Super Conference back in February.

Signing at the Raincoast Books booth at the OLA Super Conference on February 1, 2018.

I did an AMA (Ask Me Anything) for the Urban Book Club, and if I had any idea how to link to it, I would (but you can see some of it on my Twitter feed). If you have an iPhone, you can also download the UrbanAMA app and follow me there to see my video responses to (mostly) writing-related questions.  I’ll be doing two more AMAs on March 27th and April 3rd.

THE NIGHT OF THE FLOOD, the anthology I wrote with my author friends from ITW’s The Thrill Begins was released from Down & Out Books a couple of weeks ago, and you can buy it here. The reviews have been great!

I’m writing a new book, another standalone psychological thriller about a woman who… okay, that’s all I can tell you. (You know I never discuss the book until it’s done, for fear I might accidentally kill it.)

I’m going to start a newsletter with cool giveaways, book news, and personal stuff about writing and publishing and other non-spammy things, so please sign up on my Contact page! Otherwise I might as well begin the newsletter with “Dear Mom,” since she’s the only one who’s signed up so far.

That’s it for now! Be sure to find me on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, where I post a lot of kid photos and selfies, and talk a lot about food. Oh, and I discuss books, too (but mostly I talk about food).
